By day I am a computer programmer with Index Data, where I have been happily and gainfully employed for 20 years. By night, I am a vertebrate palaeontologist with the University of Bristol, specialising in sauropods: the biggest and best of all dinosaurs. I am an advocate for open access, open data and open source, and I'm beginning to think pre-publication peer-review might be a mistake. I support #LFC. More raptors with their heads onΒ backwards Chet Gottfried got in touch after he read Yet more lying necks: Backwards Birds edition, nearly two months ago now, with some more of his photos. Here they are, with his permission: What's going on here? As I wrote the Chet, "Interesting that this degree of twisting is common in raptors. I would not have thought their lifestyle demanded it, but what do I know?" He replied:
What a ridiculous game. Despite a one-man advantage for an hour and two men at the end, Liverpool contrived to lose the on shots (Spurs 15–8 Liverpool), shots on target (5–4), and xG (1.01–0.60) β€”Β yet still get the win. I think that's something like six games in eight where the team with the best xG has lost. Usually this season it's been us. Happy to see it the other way round this time (and vs. Brighton). #LFC
