2010 - 2017 I was driving this car - it said 'honk if you love me' on the bumper, which seemed like a good idea at the time, but pissed me off after a while!
Some of our friends were doing big holidays, big meals out and had 2x salaries pre kids. We did none of that back then, never went out for diner, declined meals out, ate peanut butter 2x a day π {i actually didn't mind that} didn't do an abroad holiday till like 3 years ago. It bothered me a lot, I felt like I wasn't achieving anything and was falling behind my peers.
But it was a hardcore commitment to live within our means, spend less than we earned, get no debt, give to the church and save instead. It wasn't that fun in our 20's, it's more fun coming out the end of it.
No one says well done when you choose a cheap car. No one gives you likes if you post a camping holiday. No one gives you respect when you wear a Casio.
If you're young right now and you're being conservative with your spending, well done, it's hard when you see your friends spending - and you can't / you've chosen to prioritise investing.
Hope this encourages you that you're on the right path xxx
