I love both old and new Elder Scrolls stuff (literally haven't played a TES game I didn't enjoy) but I really would like to see elements of Daggerfall make a comeback at some point.

If you loved Heretic & Hexen, definitely check out Hands of Necromancy. Great fantasy FPS with metroidvania elements in level design, and really fun weapons/spells to use.
Plus, the art is really well-made and feels right in line with 80s and 90s fantasy, if you know what I mean!

I planned to wait until I finished Black Mesa to play Half-Life 2 for the first time but with the anniversary update, I couldn't wait any longer. Man, I see why this game is just as acclaimed as the first! Loving the atmosphere, interactivity and story so far.

Thanks to the Genesis classics collection on Steam, I found yet another Genesis game I had no idea even existed: Light Crusader.
For those who haven't played it, I'd say it feels like a cross between classic Diablo, Zelda and a little bit of Ultima 8. Very sick combo! I will definitely be playing this a lot more.

When it comes to emulating 8- and 16-bit classics, what do you guys run in terms of post-processing?
I've been playing the Sega Genesis classics collection on Steam and I can't decide what I like better combined with scanlines: bilinear or EPX.
Bilinear gives a slightly blurry aesthetic that resembles a lower-end CRT. Meanwhile, EPX smooths out the edges but keeps the art as faithful as possible. Scanlines without post FX just doesn't look right to me, though.

I've mentioned it before but something I really love about Japanese games is that they still have the spirit of retro games. They tend to still prioritize the fun factor above everything else and, in many cases, they tend to be quite creative as well.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of atmospheric, cinematic, realistic games as well but I don't know, playing Japanese games from both the modern AND retro era just reminds me of why I love video games in general.
