the thing about the โtown squareโ analogy as it pertains to social media is that it actually does work. itโs just that โtown squareโ meaning โsaying anything to anyone without repercussionsโ is ridiculous. try going up to a stranger in public and saying something weird and see what happens.
most atproto people: yea, we kinda just like atproto, but lots of us use activitypub too and honestly just hope it works out for everyone
