A new set of plumbing has been built for the internet.
Nostr provides sovereign identity and communication.
Bitcoin provides sovereign value transfer.
Together, they enable people to be paid directly for the information they produce.
Fanfares adds to the system by turning information into digital property. Not through platforms or copyright, but through encryption and payment.
When value flows through a sovereign hyperlink, information becomes property by choice and meaning becomes economically grounded.
This is a system:
where discovery is value-aligned
where curation becomes labour
where noise is punished
where deep content earns
where attention becomes intentional
where platforms become obsolete.
When only 1% of people could read and write, they could communicate in a way in which the other 99% could not participate.
Right now, less than 1% of people in the world are comfortable with Public/Private key identity.
Those that couldn't read and write found it difficult to own property as they couldn't read the contracts. They had to rely on third parties for verification.
Those that haven't yet learned about private keys rely on platforms to verify the identities that they do not own. The digital content that they publish or purchase is owned by the platforms.
Everything on platforms is rented, everything on Nostr is owned.
Without private property there is no freedom.
The good news is that learning about private keys is much easier than learning to read and write. So the emancipation of the serfs in the digital space might happen a whole lot quicker than it did in the physical space.
The internet is a revolution much like the printing press was.
