The @Adopting Bitcoin Cape Town just concluded. My highlights:
-South Africa in my eyes is the real Bitcoin Country. It’s a unique blend of a failed state where public goods are increasingly provided by private institutions, and super high human capital; SAers simply don’t give up but rather find way to make stuff work. That’s why we see unique bitcoin solutions like @Machankura 📞⚡ 8333.mobi, the Sparrow Wallet, the newly launched Orange, the Pick n Pay bitcoin integration, or the @BitcoinEkasi; SA bitcoin scene should be a major inspiration not just for other African countries
-KG @kgothatso@8333.mobi as always killed it on stage; his comparison of the bitcoin movement with early hip hop scene was spot on; bitcoiners should take extra care to set up for major success so that it doesn’t destroy them (sadly the hip hop history is full of early deaths of major talents)
-speaking of HH, I was super happy to meet @Man Like Kweks; we definitely need high-energy bitcoin artists like Kweks 🤙🔥;happy to hear he’s diving in full time now
-honored that we (Trezor) sponsored the conf this year
-Vexl getting a lot of interest, I think we’ll see a boom in local p2p bitcoin across Africa this year
-met amazing bitcoiners from the continent, Trezor Academy will expand soon!
