#WritersCoffeeClub Dec 17 Give a shout-out to a resource or site you think more writers should know. The only sites I tend to use (occasionally) are Wikipedia for quick lookups. Then I use Inkarnate for maps. And there's this name generator site if I get stumped for a name: That's pretty much it. Except for the Pocket Thesaurus app on my phone. That gets regular use. Oh, for promotional listing, I like Liminal Fiction
#PennedPossibilities 876 Does your MC like being the center of attention? Why or why not? Maggie is well-known in her country so gets attention whenever she's out. Sadly, she's more feared than loved which she doesn't like. Not a lot of people truly know her. She enjoys visiting other countries where she can be just another face in the crowd.
#PennedPossibilities 875 Does your SC feel like they fit in with their community or culture? I am the character queen, so have to pick who to answer for. I know! I'll go with ALL of them. 🤣 Okay, just the ones who live in Quenelle. When the book begins, Quenelle is an established country made up of mage migrants from 2 main places who've learned to get along. Maggie's group of refugees have a long battle ahead to fit in. Over time, they contribute to the reshaping of the country & culture.
#WritersCoffeeClub Dec 16 Do you have one format you write in, or many? I'm overthinking again. I see people answering this as either the type of work they write OR the format the writing is done in. I looked up "writing formats" got a bunch of articles about citations for academic papers & a few about document formatting. So .... I write long-ass novels in docx with bog-standard formatting and no citations. 🤷 I follow the Chicago Manual of Style in all things.
#WordWeavers Dec 16 Is your MC more philosophical or action-oriented? Maggie tends to prefer action, although not always for herself. She has a small army of agents she can send out. 🤷
