There is, however, work, called "service," where citizens perform tasks or create things according to their abilities, to keep the country running & add pleasure & value. There're lots of goods & services available. Extravagance, to Maggie, is taking time off to enjoy them.

#WritersCoffeeClub Dec 12 Who is a writer whose life inspires you? I've mentioned her before. Anais Nin bought a printing press, set her own type, & self published in the 1930s. There are aspects of her life I wouldn't emulate, but I admire her boldness & self-confidence. And her brilliant writing. Of course, she had more privilege than the average person, but there're worse things rich people could be doing with their time & money than inspiring other authors. 😊
