As a former network engineer since the 90's, who never gave this credence, let me tell you..... THESE WORK GREATLY. Tp-link. Buy 2, then just pick up the singles as you want to add more rooms. The idea is to plug ONE of them into your layer 2 switch (nat box, or router as you call it). The rest are on their own network for you to connect to. One big layer 2 switch Latecy high but so what? Smart TVs, phones, computers, video.... norm use never notice a difference.
