Well, adventure was had 😂 got a new passport stamp. Will never fly Finnair again. Shanghai wasn’t a bad airport overall but wouldn’t really recommend even a 3h transfer; I made it with plenty of time thanks to the EXCELLENT customer service from Cathay. They had the flight crew deplane me with business class and had someone meet me in the airport to walk me through immigration, show me the right paperwork, and get me to the re check in with time to spare. Will never fly Finnair again.
Finnair cancelled my flight and rebooked me via Qatar with a layover in Doha on basic economy (original ticket was premium; hopefully Qatar has enough legroom). I'll end up arriving something like 12h later than planned, screwing up my evening commitments. Last time I flew with Finnair they charged me €80 to fix my wife's name, because I followed their (still wrong!) instructions.. Pretty dysfunctional airline it seems. Will fly LOT again next time even if it's a longer route. Happy Monday!
That moment when, after two weeks of work building a pretty dang complex system calling out to multiple internal services with several layers of internal abstractions for different paths, and you hook it all up and… It just works. You’ve even got updated API docs. And you’re not surprised at all. This is how software engineering should be. It just took the industry a few decades to realize the FP folks were onto something with their type system obsession 😜
