The latest Pew Research report on news content creators paints a damning picture of our skewed information ecosystem. I went deep into the 122 page report and broke down the key findings and what they mean
"When Democrats stopped talking about COVID, the right did not. Instead, right-wing operatives, dark money groups, media, and politicians worked to create an alternate reality in which the discredited positions they adopted throughout the pandemic—minimizing the virus and opposing mitigation measures—were vindicated."

It’s a mistake to say “well no elected officials are promoting election conspiracies” so it’s not a big deal, when you have tens of thousands of liberal Democrat voters pushing hardcore election denialism and a platform like Threads boosting these conspiracies and actively downranking the journalists and news organizations attempting to combat them.

I wrote about how Threads became ground zero for election hacking conspiracies and how Metas decision to restrict journalists and news content has exacerbated the problem.
The official Twitter account of the GOP House Judiciary Committee posted about Peanut. Elon Musk posted and reposted over 20 tweets about Peanut throughout the weekend. The Wall Street Journal ran an opinion piece decrying Peanut's death as an example of "abusive government" and tried to tie the incident to crime on New York City subways and Democrat-run government. And right wing crypto accounts have begun boosting a forthcoming Peanut meme coin.
In the past 72 hours Peanut the squirrel has become martyr for Elon Musk and the right wing internet, which is trying to use Peanut's death to rally support for Trump days before the election.
SCOOP: The “anonymous new media outlet” a right wing recruiting firm has been reaching out to journalists about on LinkedIn is LibsofTikTok. I wrote about how the fundamental difference in strategy between Trump vs Harris this cycle boils down to shortform vs longform. Harris leaned hard into short form content after launching her campaign this summer, successfully dominating TikTok and viral IG type accounts. Meanwhile, Trump has been sitting for hours-long livestreams and built parasocial bonds with young male voters through podcasts.
