> First, they take a third of your paycheck right off the top. > Then another 15โ€“30% every time you buy something, stuff thatโ€™s already been taxed. > And after all that, they inflate the currency & make whateverโ€™s left in your pocket worth even less. > If you mess up anywhere in this maze? Jail and theyโ€™ll take the rest. This isnโ€™t economics. Itโ€™s daylight robbery.

For me, Covid was the breaking point. The government wasnโ€™t just restricting our freedom of movement, they were actively punishing anyone who didnโ€™t take that rushed vaccine. I still remember not being allowed to board a flight unless I had tested negative a few hours earlier. I was only 20, and it shaped the way I see everything now.
The worst part? Watch any video about this on YouTube. All these โ€œexpertsโ€ are basically gaslighting you, pretending itโ€™s absurd to even question it. And they all use that same spectrum chart as their trump card, gamma rays way over here, wireless stuff way down there. Like that automatically proves itโ€™s harmless. Itโ€™s infuriating. This wonโ€™t sit well with everyone, but Lightning isnโ€™t pleasant to work with if youโ€™re not running your own node. You hit walls quickly. And the wallet inconsistencies just make it worse. Itโ€™s not a design flaw. itโ€™s just a different philosophy. At one point, there was even a spec for a โ€œverifyโ€ URL to check payment status, but it got shut down for encouraging what they called lazy programming. View quoted note โ†’

Cashu is seriously impressive. If youโ€™re building anything Lightning-related, definitely consider using Cashu. Itโ€™s super versatile & really easy to work with. Minting and melting are literally just two simple API calls each, thatโ€™s it. You can even send payments directly to Nostr public keys, nutstash.app already supports that & NWC with budget limits. Itโ€™s genuinely solid work. Thereโ€™s so much potential here, and I think weโ€™re just scratching the surface.
