They were hosting a small Christmas bazaar to support the kids on the island raising funds for gifts, education programs, and basic school supplies. Yes, they were accepting bitcoin. It was a moment of community taking care of community, and bringing bitcoiners into that space felt magical. Not as outsiders, but as islanders and people who genuinely care about the future they’re helping build. For context: This is the first school on the island with a bitcoin reserve. They accept bitcoin for tuition. And we’re talking about incorporating bitcoin into the curriculum because we all know it’s the way to protect their work, their time, and their values. Last night we went to a charity dinner. We were invited by Felipe, a 73-year-old who heads the Red Cross—someone who truly understands that giving isn’t just a season, it’s a way of life. We’d asked Felipe if our bitcoiner friends on the island could join us, and without hesitation, he said yes. Long story short, we went to the dinner and ended up paying for our table with bitcoin. And here’s the beautiful part—this 73-year-old already had his own wallet set up because he’d invested in it. I just had to show him how to receive the payment. There was something special about that moment.
