BRIAN TRIES… cycling 45 miles!
i rode 45 miles down the shore 2 weekends ago. it was my first time on a bike in like 2 years — last time was on a shittybike… oops i mean citibike — landmark hopping in dc. that ride was awesome, but not because of the bike (that thing was heavy and slow compared to my old but speedy road bike). i didn’t even sign up for this ride — toph told me he had an extra spot with 2 weeks to go. no time for training! would i be okay? would my ass hurt like hell? yes. and yes. but the bay was gorgeous, the sun shimmering in its wake. honestly it wasn’t that hard; felt like i could’ve gone twice as fast. i’ve always wondered what it’s like to do a triathlon or even an ironman — it’s the swimming that scares me. biking? i could double this distance and pace. swimming fast? ehhh, not so much. my buddy carl’s been talking forever about doing a 4 corners bike trip… maybe this was day one of training. 🚲🍻 #briantries
BRIAN TRIES… HIP HOP
i’m the guy who couldn’t clap on beat at a concert, so signing up for hip hop lessons felt insane. every week i walked in terrified, but walked out grinning. in a room full of mirrors, i didn’t see the nerd in my head — i actually looked… kinda okay. when the rhythm hit, i could find it and feel it, and i stuck with it. the instructor even fist-bumped me yelling “YESSSS BRIAN YESSSS.” peak of my hip hop career (so far). 5/5 would try again. #briantries
