In 1920, the UK introduced gun control, not to stop crime but explicitly because the state was worried about the political implications of an armed population. That was the reason given by parliament at the time.

Looking very seriously at getting a visa to work in the US then applying for a green card. Much better economy, far higher salaries, way lower taxes, and you don't need ID to use Spotify or get arrested for memes.
Recent career boost means my current profession is very high in demand so there's routes to get expedited approval and salaries are $300k+.
I really have no idea why I should stay in the UK if I have the ability to get paid a lot more and taxed a lot less for my skills elsewhere.
