“I learned about networks at school!” Sam exclaimed. “It’s a group or system of interconnected people or things. A spiderweb without the spider. Like the internet, power lines, and language!” Remy laughed. “And Bitcoin, too! When Creatures want to exchange value, they use the Bitcoin Network. The Bitcoin Network is available to any and every Creature in any and every Forest! Each transaction goes into a ‘waiting area’ called a mempool, and when the miners -” “The Miners? Like the Seven Dwarves? This Forest gets cooler with every new part we explore!” Cam enthusiastically shouted. “Just wait, there is so much more!” Remy replied with a smirk.
The Bitcoin Tree was even grander than Sam or Cam could have imagined! In front of them was a very busy chipmunk. “Oh hey Remy! You brought some friends.” “Hey Chip! I’m guiding these guys through Satoshi’s Forest, and I’m hoping you can share a little bit about the Blockchain.” Chip Chipmunk squeaked and squealed and spinned around in delight. The blockchain was his favorite part of Bitcoin. “The blockchain is like a special book recording all the Bitcoin transactions ever made, ensuring that everyone can see and verify them. And when a new block is made, it locks in the one before it, and the one before that, and the one before that and… Well, you get the idea! And like a tree’s roots run deep down, or far and wide, to hold it steady, the Blockchain has kept the Bitcoin Network steady and secure since 2009.”
“Bitcoin is a decentralized, digital currency,” explained Remy. “Unlike the jingling coins or paper bills you use for trading, Bitcoin exists only in the digital world and is stored in something called a ‘blockchain.’ It is safe and secure because it requires everyone using it to agree to the same set of rules. It allows Creatures from any Forest to exchange value, without needing anyone else’s permission or going through a third party. It keeps the Forest balanced! It is sound money, and solves all sorts of problems created by government dollars." “Like inflation?” Sam asked. He remembered his dad talking about how inflation made their dollars worth less than they were even a few years ago. “Yes!” answered Remy. “The more money the government prints, the less it is worth because there is more of it in circulation. Would you like to know more?” Sam eagerly nodded, and they followed Remy towards the heart of the Forest: The Bitcoin Tree.
When they arrived at the mysterious glimmer, they discovered it was really a map! The map was covered in strange symbols and lines leading to a place marked "Bitcoin Tree." Suddenly a raccoon popped out from behind the sign and startled Sam and Cam. “Welcome to Satoshi’s Forest!” he said joyfully. “My name is Remy, and I am the official greeter of new friends to the Forest!” “What is this place?” asked Sam. “We have walked the woods behind our house so many times and never saw that map!” Remy Raccoon replied, “When you are ready to see it, the Forest finds you! Satoshi’s Forest is home to the Bitcoin Tree, which is a community of Creatures who work, live, and breathe Bitcoin.” “Bitcoin? What?” Sam and Cam exclaimed in unison.
Satoshi's Forest by Moo Once upon a time, a brother and sister went for a walk in the woods behind their house. Big brother Sam was telling his little sister Cam about how he finally saved up enough money to buy a car, but the bank wouldn’t allow him to withdraw all of his money at once. “It took me so long to save up the money because everything is getting more expensive! The bank says it’s a lot of money to withdraw at once and they don’t want me to do something sneaky with my money. I really just want to pay for my car in cash! If I withdraw it all, I would have to pay taxes on the interest earned by having it in that Savings Account. The banker also told me I could apply for a loan, but then I would have to pay interest on borrowing money. Why should I pay the bank for accessing my own money that I worked hard for? I wish money made sense!” Cam didn’t understand everything Sam was saying, but what did make sense didn’t sound fair. After all, it was his money and no one else should have the power to tell him how to use it. “No wonder Mom and Dad are always upset when they talk about money!” As they wove their way through a familiar old oak grove, they noticed a glimmer coming from the far side of the dell. They had never ventured that far before, but there was plenty of daylight left for an adventure!
How can I reach more people on Nostr? I sometimes feel like I'm shouting into a void. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Alright y'all, I am stuck in analysis paralysis with illustrating my book. I have ideas, but can't seem to like anything I've put down enough to move on. So I will take the leap into this space of creatures and creators and share Satoshi's Forest so far because it is worth telling! Today I am going to put one page at a time of my book onto Nostr, starting at 4:20 UTC 🫣 Send zaps if you like it or go support my Geyser Fund. Repost so we can get more eyeballs on it. See something wrong or worth fixing? Note that! If you like to doodle, send me some inspo! If you want to collaborate in a meaningful way, LFG! #btcisforeveryone #childrensbook #bookforallages #author #illustrator #art #collaboration #idzapthat
