Tales from the Land of Freedom and Bitcoin:
For the third time in a matter of months, El Salvador censored Telegram yesterday, preventing access to the app on all five of its national mobile networks. The event “ accidentally ” coincided with Independence celebrations, and on the very day when anti-government demonstrations were taking place in the capital San Salvador. Organizers were using the messaging app to coordinate participants.
This year, government censorship for Telegram in El Salvador had already been triggered twice, on the day of the President's inauguration and in July, to crack down on the Telegram group of CiberinteligentiaSV hackers, who have been very active in exposing alleged illicit and corrupt practices of the Salvadoran administration.
But hey, Buky on X guaranteed that in El Salvador “you won't be arrested, censored (...) for exercising your right to free speech.” Why should we worry?
#nostr fixes this
