Today: - I got my 10th Covid vaccination, which feels like some sort of milestone 💪🏼 As ever, so grateful to the scientists and health system that have made this possible. I still haven’t had Covid as far as I know! - while I was in town I did various errands, such as filling up my jars with fresh peanut butter (love that grinder) and getting my bottles of lens cleaner refilled at the optometrist. Reusable containers for the win! - it’s been an unseasonably cold day with snow on the hills, but the house is warm and cosy #ThreeGoodThings #today #vaccines
Last night I finished reading Anything Could Happen, Grant Robertson’s memoir. He’s a good person, he’s had an interesting life (so far!), writes well, and it’s a great read. As with the memoir of his great friend and colleague Jacinda Ardern, I felt quite flat after reading it. Oh for the days when the people in charge cared deeply about the well-being of everyone, and not just their rich mates. The stress of their work, exacerbated by the abuse they experienced, really took a toll on their health, something which comes through strongly in this book. Anyway, I highly recommend it! #NZPol #BookRecommendation
The first cruise ship of the season is due this morning 🫤 This is a reminder to Ōtepoti friends who prefer to avoid the crowds of tourists that the schedule is available on the Port Otago website. #CruiseShips #Dunedin
I’ve just been out for a walk and saw lots of evidence of yesterday’s storm. This big macrocarpa fell onto the road not far from us. It’s one of the trees that stuck motorists used their chainsaws on to clear a lane! It’s still down to one lane - going to be a big job to shift that trunk.
Solidarity with everyone on strike today (and those doing the emergency cover) 💪🏼 #NZPol #MegaStrike
Aotearoa friends, make sure you check the weather forecast because tomorrow looks dire for severe winds. Where I am we have an orange wind warning with moderate chance of upgrading to red, but some places already have a red warning 😳 #weather
Today: - I did more weeding in the asparagus patch, and I also ate some freshly picked asparagus for lunch. It was so delicious! - I had fun wandering around the city centre on the Rayquaza raid train with the Pokémon Go crew - Mum came for dinner and enjoyed a new kumara soup recipe I tried #ThreeGoodThings #today #SimplePleasures
Today: - I started my day with gardening again, despite the dodgy weather - the elderflowers I picked the other day had been infusing for long enough so I made cordial - I had my 3-yearly cervical screen and the new system is so much better! I’m a big fan of cancer screening as a mammogram detected I had an aggressive breast cancer and it was treated early, saving my life #ThreeGoodThings #today #CancerScreening
