Once you deny the existence of God it's a slow downward slope to the denial of imago dei then to the denial of human rights, then to nihilism and finally a might makes right, will-to-power ideology.
It's a dark and sociopathic ideology, without hope or redemption. And it's this darkness which was exposed yesterday which has rocked me.
I'm a Christian, so it's days like this where I have to suppress all of my sinful instincts to hate on my enemies, to point and wag my finger, to even enjoy the condemnation they are receiving. Instead, I follow my master's commandment to love them and to pray for them.
Because it's not Charlie or his family that need saving, it's the people celebrating his death.
