One of the things I love most about being in the Bitcoin space is how the diversity here is genuine, not manufactured. We’re just a group of people from around the world coming together to provide support to one another as we work to better our own lives and the lives of those around us via this technology and technologies like it (e.g., Nostr). It’s quite beautiful.
The new History of Bitcoin book changed the frequency in the room at @PUBKEY last night. It’s a truly stunning work of art. You can bid on a one-of-a-kind edition of the book here: All proceeds go to @My First Bitcoin
27 years ago today, I went to my first punk rock show. I saw The Bouncing Souls at a venue called Tramps in New York City. In the years that followed, I learned from that band, as well as many others in the DIY music scene, how important the spirit of doing things without permission is. These bands put out their own records, booked their own tours, and wrote their own music - music than emanated directly from the depths of their hearts. Without having gone to that show and gotten involved in the punk rock / hardcore / DIY scene in the years that followed, I don’t think I ever would have truly grasped what #Bitcoin and #Nostr are and why they are important. I’m immensely grateful to all the bands and people I learned from in that scene, as not only did they help me find my purpose earlier on in life, but they primed me to notice and embrace two of the greatest technologies for human flourishing ever created. So, on this Thanksgiving Eve, I’d like to thank the Bouncing Souls, the punk rock community worldwide, and, of course, all of you in the Nostrverse who carry on this spirit of permissionlessness. Onward 🫑
