Is A2 Dairy Really “Safe”? Let’s Talk About It. 🥛 You’ve probably heard that A2 milk is the better version of dairy, and compared to what’s sold in most grocery stores, it is. The truth is, most cows in the U.S. are A1, which produce a protein (A1 beta-casein) that breaks down into a morphine-like compound called BCM-7 during digestion. That’s what causes bloating, inflammation, congestion, and the feeling that your body just doesn’t “like” dairy anymore. A2 dairy, on the other hand, contains the original beta-casein that human bodies evolved to digest, the same type found in mother’s milk and traditional milks from goats, sheep, and water buffalo.
