...Yep, RetroArch does, indeed, work. XD I plan on using this to spend my lunchbreak at work by dialing into this and playing some retro games. Yes, the save files are in fact linked to my real ones - my roms, my BIOSes, my saves. Not as elegant as a real game-streaming solution, but that'll come at a later point in time. ^-^
For now, this is an absurdly useful utility to get into apps that I can not install at work - or, straight up do not want to install. Really loving how this turned out =)
This is running alongside OpenMediaVault, where all my disks run under MergerFS as a poor man'S RAID, since all those drives are "different". Have yet to slap an SSD into the x16 slot, and configure bcache or something - and perhaps feed it a bit more RAM (single channel 8GB...).
But, all this aside, this is EPIC. A bit verbose in configuring (you gonna be slapping JSON objects into the config interface a lot) but does exactly what it promises on the packaging.
