We’ve all heard of ultra-processed foods. What about ultra-processed light? Ultra-processed food drives obesity and chronic disease but ultra-processed light does the same. → Unprocessed light (sunlight) sets your circadian rhythm, supports mitochondrial health, improves mood, regulates hormones, and so much more. → Processed light (fire, candle, incandescent) is more aligned with human biology. Just like some processed foods it can be good for you. → Ultra-processed light (LEDs, screens, blue-rich bulbs at night) disrupts melatonin, sleep, metabolism, and hunger cues. If you’ve cleaned up your food. Now it’s time to clean up your light. → Get outside within 30 minutes of waking. → Work near an open window & take light breaks. → Avoid bright overhead LEDs after sunset. → Use circadian friendly low level lighting. → Wear blue blockers at night. Natural light is a nutrient. Ultra-processed light is a junk input. If you want optimal health, eat real food and live under real light. image
