Some say monetary debasement is like slavery. They make the same error my hypothetical friend Bob does saying, “This is like sitting on a pinecone.” No, Bob… you sat on a pinecone. There is no “like” here. Debasement is slavery.
Each of us is a rational moral agent. Even if we would rather pretend not. That’s empowering. And even more terrifying.
