I'm so proud of Mastodon for realizing the need for official/trusted hosting, and now providing that to help sustain their operations.
They could have taken VC funding, introduced ads or built a paid verification badge system.
Instead they chose the ethical route, and we should be so thankful for that.

I realize the frustration regarding the Loops delays.
But I'm a man of my word, and have finally shipped the full source code for the backend, while I continue to work on the ActivityPub federation and other features.
Building a TikTok clone that scales, federates and is easy to install/manage is a huge challenge.
And yet, here we are π
Building in the fediverse for 7+ years has shown me that all feedback comes from people who genuinely care about decentralized social media.
That's what keeps me motivated.
The tough accountability moments, like open letters to cancel funding, have made me grow as a leader, and leadership growth is crucial for building successful projects and thriving ecosystems.
This community is so worth fighting for. I'm proud to be part of it and committed to being a better leader.

Building personalized feeds for ActivityPub is hard.
Small Loops instances don't have enough signals to power recommendations effectively.
That's why I'm developing @npub102mw...2qff to store cross-instance engagement patterns and serve video recommendations via open APIs.
Think BlueSky's PDS but for algorithmic discovery.
