Seeing an influx of spam from a few big Mastodon servers, perfect timing for FediThreat to ship along with the big Stories release!
It's going to be a busy and fun weekend ๐
Stories might be our most complex feature yet (harder than Collections, Groups, Portfolios combined).
But they're everywhere - Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn. People expect them.
Love them or hate them, they're how we share moments.
@pixelfed is doing Stories ethically - no tracking, no ads, just authentic sharing.
The future is federated. โค๏ธ

Pixelfed Stories are one of the most anticipated features, with high expectations.
I understand this and am working hard to make them perfect for you.
Smooth animations, beautiful design, and the polished experience you deserve.
Your patience means everything! ๐ โจ

I'm ready to cry tears of joy, after several attempts and years trying to get Stories working like the familiar Instagram Stories, I finally got it right with layers, mentions, links and text ๐ฅณ
I have some backend work to wrap up later today, then I will be merging it and shipping a new TestFlight release with Story support!! ๐
We will likely see some edge cases and bugs, but that's why we're only releasing to TestFlight, once fixed, we can promote to prod โจ
Composer vs Final Federated Image
"Dan barely uses his own platforms"
I use Pixelfed like Instagram, and only post my best photos.
I'm a fediverse developer and post more on Mastodon because I like to share updates and gather feedback.
Apparently this is why you "shouldn't use Pixelfed" because I post on Masto more.
I say ignore the haters and use what you love.
That's what makes the fediverse so special, wherever you find a home, you're still just a follow, like or comment away โค๏ธ
Mastodon could really use tombstone placeholders when a reply is deleted so the tree/chain isn't broken or orphaned.
I've implementing this in Loops, and it is a bit tricky federation wise, but it makes the experience much better.

Shoutout to @npub134rq...xq57 for creating Pleroma - arguably the most technically ambitious fediverse project.
From ActivityPub innovations to sponsoring ElixirConf, they've put their money where their code is.
The fediverse needs more builders, fewer critics.
