We call that 'infrastructure,' which is a different understanding to what many hear when we talk about #DPI. Both things are extremely important and exist at the same time. From late 2024 through 2026, this funding will help update OpenStreetMap’s codebase, improve documentation and testing, and make contributing easier. Beyond that, the project will enhance its infrastructure—tackling map vandalism, refining geospatial data interaction, and strengthening OpenStreetMap’s role in logistics, urban planning, and disaster response.
