Sometimes when you need a bunch of parts for a vehicle its best to bring the salvage yard to you..
How it started:
Rented a truck and hauler trailer, winched the non-running donor van, and drove it 4 hours back home to slowly wrench apart everything I needed from hitting a deer and anything of value
Engine camshafts and transmission valve bodies are legitimately beautiful in their design
Getting all of the fuse blocks, relays, circuits and harnesses out in tact was a chore
Slowly picking it all apart, like a carcass on the Serengeti
Where its at now:
I was going to scrap the rest but the frame and body are in really good shape so I don't have the heart to know it'll be crushed. Gonna use it as a tool shed in the backyard lol
If we don't want newer cars where "everything is computer"/kill switched then knowing our rides well and the points of failure is key
#salvage #autorepair #diy
