🏰Nerola Castle or Orsini Castle of Nerola is a medieval building in the town of Nerola, in the province of Rome.
It is located on Via Aldo Bigelli. Construction of the castle began in 1070 around the old fortress of the Prefetti di Vico, at the behest of Napoleon Orsini, and was completed by his son Gentil Virginio Orsini in 1085.
In 1085, Emperor Henry IV of Franconia, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, was a guest of the Orsini family. Over its history, the castle has undergone many changes since the initial design by Francesco di Giorgio Martini.
Its exterior is Romanesque-medieval. A crenellated outer wall rises from a moat. The castle consists of four corner towers, one circular and one quadrangular, both with crenellations, and is much taller and more majestic than the outer walls.

On this day in 1971, David Bowie released the LP “Hunky Dory” (December 17)
Compared to the guitar-driven hard rock sound of “The Man Who Sold the World”, Bowie opted for a warmer, more melodic piano-based pop rock and art pop style on Hunky Dory.
Upon its release, “Hunky Dory” and its lead single "Changes" received little promotion from RCA, who were wary that Bowie was about to transform his image again shortly.
Thus, despite very positive reviews from the British and American music press, the album initially sold poorly and failed to chart.
It was only after the commercial breakthrough of Bowie's 1972 follow-up album “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” that “Hunky Dory” itself became a commercial success, peaking at #3 on the UK Albums Chart, and remaining on the chart for 69 weeks.
It also made the charts in Australia, where it peaked at #39.
Retrospectively, “Hunky Dory” has been critically acclaimed as one of Bowie's best works, and features on several lists of the greatest albums of all time.
Within the context of his career, it is considered to be the album where "Bowie starts to become Bowie", definitively discovering his voice and style.
“Changes” and “Life on Mars” are highlights.

On this day in 1976, the Steve Miller Band single “Fly Like An Eagle” debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 at #73 (December 18)
The song from the “Fly Like An Eagle” LP eventually peaked at #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and also in Canada, and #21 in the Netherlands.
An earlier 1973 version features a more bluesy and less funk-inspired rhythm, with the guitar taking the synthesizer parts (with similar delay effects), and slightly different lyrics to this re-recorded 1976 version from the album of the same name.
Steve Miller bought the synthesizer used for "Space Intro" which precedes “”Fly Like An Eagle” for just #190 at a local music retailer; allegedly “the trashiest synthesizer in the store!”
This is a very cool, classic 70s track…

On this day in 1982, the Laura Branigan single “Gloria” debuted on the Australian charts at #100 (December 13)
Pretty much becoming Branigan’s signature song, “Gloria” went all the way to #1 in Australia, staying in the top spot for seven consecutive weeks.
It also stayed on the US Billboard Hot 100 for 36 weeks, then a record for a female artist, peaking at #2.
The song also reached #1 in Canada, #4 in Ireland, #6 in New Zealand and the UK, and #9 in South Africa.
Branigan's cover of "Gloria" (a 1979 love song written and composed in Italian by Umberto Tozzi and Giancarlo Bigazzi) appeared in the smash hit Grammy and Academy Award-winning musical drama “Flashdance” in 1983, though it was not included in the film's soundtrack.
In 2003, Branigan agreed "Gloria" was her "signature song", adding: “I always get the same reaction wherever I go, and whenever I perform it ... I have to end every show with that song, and people just go crazy."
"Gloria" earned Laura Branigan a nomination for the Best Pop Vocal Performance Female Grammy Award for 1982.
